Three Super Cute New Year's Eve DIY's

Planning some fun things to do with your guests can make the night that little bit more special.


New Year’s Eve is often an evening of reflection, and sharing this time with loved ones means you can all reflect together on the ups and downs of the year gone past and dreams for the upcoming year. But the night isn’t just about making resolutions and looking back, it’s also about having fun! I am excited to share a few DIY’s that will keep your guests partying!

A Time Capsule Of The Year Gone By


I love the idea of creating a personal time capsule that holds some notable items and handwritten reflections that can be opened up the following year.  This is such a great activity to do with friends. It’s interactive, fun and will inspire you to look back on the year that was. Set up a tray with pens and cards, you can even include photos from the night, what your music list was and the food you served so you have a full history of the night. You can write down all your plans for the year ahead and open it come 2018. Once everyone has done theirs, place them in the time capsule and keep it safe until 2018. You can open it the following year to see if everyone's resolutions were kept, whether they have achieved what they wanted to achieve.

Method::

Simply fill your capsule with notes, letter, photos - anything really. Leave your special message and then stash it away.

Glitter Bombed Sparkling Bottle


I love the look of these glitter covered bottles. Not only are they super simple to make, but they also look fabulous in any colour and can be used as a fun decorative item for any party. My whole New Year's Eve has been the combination of glittering gold and black so naturally, I chose gold glitter, it is the only time of year I don’t mind being covered in a little glitter!


Materials::

  • Glitter

  • Spray adhesive glue

  • Mini sparkling bottles

  • Paper plate

  • Ribbon to contrast glitter

  • Straw to match glitter

 

Method::

  1. Spray outside of the bottle, roll in glitter, stand alone until it dry - give it about an hour to avoid being covered in glitter.

  2. Shake off excess glitter once dried.

  3. Attach ribbon and straw to the top of the bottle and you are done!

Time Poppers


Why wait for midnight to get those balloons popping? Pop them at intervals and let the glitter flow! Simply draw some points of time on your balloon and pop them! Hand them out to guests on arrival so it’s up to them to get the popping started. It’s another fun way of counting down time.


Materials::

  • Assortment of balloons

  • Permanent Marker

  • Glitter

  • Confetti


Method::

  1. Fill your balloon with glitter or confetti (or purchase glitter filled ballots).

  2. Write a time on each, counting down until the clock strikes midnight.
