An Inspiring, Colourful Party

It all started with a colour palette of pale pink, tangerine and raspberry.

I had found a picture months ago of a house in England decorated in balloons as an installation. I so badly wanted to recreate this at home and was just looking for the perfect opportunity to do so, and it finally came in the form of a great friend's 50th birthday party which I hosted at home.

When you walk into an event, you want to be wowed. You should know the theme of the party instantly and feel an instant festive buzz. So the balloons had to be falling from the house in absolute abundance. I wanted to give a modern twist on the typical balloon arch, and with the help and cleverness from the girls from Poppies for Grace, the most amazing balloon installation was created. It's one of those things that can’t be planned, once we created the initial shape it was all about in filling it with the smaller items. There was a lot of trial and error, believe me! Standing back and having a look at the wall taking shape was so exciting, as it was just an amazing spectacle.

The trick to adding more interest to this look is to mix and match them in with other materials, so I added variety of pink and tangerine coloured paper lanterns, honeycomb balls, pom poms and paper garlands; this will create depth and texture with the different sizes.

The balloon party didn’t stop there! In the dining area, the aim was to fill the space and make sure the whole room was covered and that every single balloon had a unique tassel, flower and garland. Each done by hand and each done with love, creating a space like this should be like walking into a room of smiles and happiness. It was a magical looking room followed by a magical lunch.
