Treating Mum to high tea at home is something I guarantee she will adore.
With a selection of sweet treats and a little bit of preparation, you can create a fun dining experience that Mum will never forget. Start your Mother’s Day off in absolute luxury by finding a unique space in your home where you can set up a gorgeous table setting. Don’t fall into the habit of always dining in the same area; move your tables about, and create a new nook that will inspire you to decorate. If the sun is shining, move your table outdoors like I did!
This Georg Jensen by Heemskerk Hallmark Cuvée is a great gift idea and perfect for Mother’s Day. It comes in a gorgeous sleek bottle with a bottle top like no other - it’s actually a stylish engraved re-sealable stopper. This gorgeous reusable stopper keeps your bubbles fresh for a few days after opening if you manage to have some leftover! Mum will not only love the bubbles but also this beautiful stopper that she gets to keep once you've enjoyed the bottle. It really is the gift that keeps on giving!
I have loved styling this table in the sweetest of blushing pinks. It’s fresh and feminine, and there is so much you can do in the way of sweet treats in this colour palette. From the icing on the cupcakes to the musk sticks in the mini dessert jars, it is such a lovely way to use an array of pinks and create a really beautiful look. Choosing one of Mum's favourite colours as the theme will be sure to bring a smile to her face.
With a sparkling in hand, You don’t need to fill the table with very much. All you need to have is one 'wow' factor - and that wow factor on my table is the vanilla cake. It’s all about the naked cake at the moment, which means you can see the cake through the layer of icing. This style of cake has been popping up all over the place and is the dessert de jour. They look amazing and are actually quite easy to make; best of all, you don’t have to worry about running out of icing! Simply spread it evenly around the cake using a clean spatula, it does take a little practice, but I am sure you will agree it looks amazing as the centrepiece of the table.
You know I like to use varying levels of height in my table settings, and this was done by adding my collection of gorgeous antique pink books, that I am absolutely obsessed with. Piling my pink china and using some stunning reflective vases for my roses just adds some depth and texture to the table. It was an absolute no-brainer bringing in some David Austin garden roses, they are perfect at this time of year, and the colours just blend in so perfectly. With the table now complete, it's time for a crisp glass of sparkling!
