Welcoming Spring!
BY : CHYKA KEEBAUGH
Spring has sprung, and boy do we that sunshine!
I think it’s fair to say that we are well and truly ready for some sunshine in our lives! Waking up to bluer skies and the birds chirping, flowers are blooming, and the days are getting longer. This season couldn’t have arrived at a better time, really, as I think we are all needing that burst of sunshine in our lives right now. How can we bring a little of that sunshine indoors? How can we bottle that spring feeling to make our days a little brighter? By keeping it simple. By not pushing ourselves to do everything at once, by taking our time and allowing ourselves to have a day off now and then.
Let’s start with little changes that will make us feel better...
Buy yourself a new candle
Welcome Spring by swapping out your winter candles with some fruitier, more floral aromas. Open those windows and doors and let those fragrances waft through your home.
Fill a vase with a big bunch of Spring bulbs
What a way to bring happiness into your home, workspace or anywhere at all! Those beautiful bright bulbs always light up a room, especially en masse, cheap and cheerful. If you want a creative way to display them, check out this post right here.
Rearrange the furniture
You may not be up to doing a full Spring clean but moving one or two pieces into a sunny corner never hurt! Start small by taking away heavy throws from couches, swap your coffee table books, swap your lamps about the house - anything that will give your home a little refresh.
Pick up a set of new sheets and towels
New sheets and towels are a lovely way to start the season, swapping out the darker colours of winter to brighter, maybe a little more florally spring flavoured prints. A fresh set of bright colours adorning your home is one way to kickstart some happiness.
Start your Spring Cleaning
Don’t feel as if you have one weekend to do this, spread it out over a few weeks and go slow. Start in one room and make your way to the next….. dusting, rearranging, restocking, throwing out or boxing away items that you wont need until next Winter. Pick up a few lemons on your next shopping trip to get a kickstart on Spring cleaning the kitchen with these simple and effective methods.
Create a new upbeat Spotify list
Music could not be more critical to my everyday life! Whether it be for when I’m walking, cleaning, cooking and exercising - I need to have a fun, upbeat playlist to listen to. I’ve been obsessing over 80’s hits lately, and I love it; it brings back such happy memories and definitely boosts my spirits. You can check out all my playlists right here, all free to download via Spotify.
Find your new favourite Spring salad
Search the internet for the latest delicious Spring salad and introduce this into your weekly meal plan. Maybe even grab a few recipes for salad dressings while you are at it. Spring means fresh greens, and I am here for it! After a winter of comfort food - anything fresh and crunchy gets my vote! Maybe you would like to try out my favourite Spring Salad or Healthy sides for every meal.
Book that group get together!
We may be in and out of lockdowns for a while yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan a get-together. Don’t wait until restrictions lift to organise a night out; message your friends now - pick a date and venue and send your enquiries. That way, once we do open - you are all organised! And that business you are supporting with your booking can get back to what they do best.
