Creating a special movie night for your Mum (or most favourite maternal figure) at home is a thoughtful and creative way to show her how much you care. There really is nothing better than knowing you have a relaxing night in front of the TV planned - you've got your snacks planned, the cushions are just right, and your movie is picked - So why not make it glamorous? Turning an everyday event into an evening your loved one wont forget is not as hard as it sounds - it just comes down to creativity and organisation. Simple details like a lolly station, a themed invitation and creating an ambient room that's inviting and cosy really are pretty easy to make if you follow my tips!
My colour-blocked lolly station is the absolute hero of this Movie Night. Simple to create, the lolly station is a collection of colour-coded sweets, and they make such an impact. Looking at my interior for colour inspiration, I decided everything had to be pink! I love matching a theme to an element of my decor - it takes the thinking out of choosing a palette to style with. Lombards is my go-to store for colourful lollies, and putting a collection of sweet treats in coloured glasses keeps the station on the theme and tidy; I’ve even included cute bags so we can bag up some goodies and nibble on them during the movie. Yum!
Think about how you would invite your loved one to this special night - have you ever downloaded an invite from Etsy? The site has so much to choose from in the way of downloadable invites, menus, lists; you name it - you’ll find it! I found some fantastic movie ticket invitations that fit my theme and included them in my styling. Small details like this can elevate your home movie night to a memorable experience.
Ideas To Help You Plan A Memorable Movie Night For Your Mum
Choose a movie she loves: Think about your Mum's favourite movies and choose one she hasn't seen or watched in years. Give her a selection to choose from, and let her choose!
Set the mood by creating a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Dim the lights, light candles, and add soft blankets and pillows to the couch.
Prepare a special dinner: Consider preparing a special dinner before the movie. You could cook her favourite meal or order some takeaway from her favourite restaurant. Set the table and add some fresh flowers to make the meal extra special.
Make it a theme night: To add some extra fun to the movie night, consider it a theme night. For example, if you're watching a romantic comedy, you could set up a DIY photo booth with props and decorations.
Add some extra surprises: Consider adding surprises to make the night even more unique. You could create a customised movie ticket or a special playlist of your Mum's favourite songs to play before or after the movie.
