When you get to create so many amazing tablescapes, settings and event, you will always have a few that stand out in your mind as favourites & this are one of them…

Living in the multicultural and diverse city of Melbourne has given me access to cultural celebrations, I usually would never have the chance to attend. I've learnt new traditions, tasted new foods and been privy to witness amazing ceremonies that are rich in symbolism and history, just like this old favourite - Rosh Hashanah.

As much as I live by the adage of 'more is more is more' it seemed that a little more subtlety was needed when it came to colour for this celebration. And the classic palette of royal blue, apple green and white came to be. Clashing patterns and pops of apple made this table shine, and by celebrating in the unusual setting of a greenhouse, we were surrounded by lush green backdrops.

Did you know that the Jewish tradition of honey-dipped apples symbolises sweetness and good health? Dipping a slither of apple into sweet honey is seen as a way to be blessed with a sweet new year. I wanted every one of my guests to receive this blessing, so why not focus on using green apples to style with? Cheap, fresh and so easy to match back with, the apple sat atop the abundance of patterned plates, napkins and table cloth, shining brightly in the greenhouse.
