Travelling is, without a doubt, where I find I am most inspired…
And when it comes to gathering ideas, last year’s travel through Italy’s amazing Amalfi Coast was a treasure trove for me! From the alleyways to the sparkling water, the greenery that climbs every trellis to the heady scent of lemons in the air - I knew that a lemon-inspired collection was exactly what I wanted to create. My love of Lemons is well-documented on this blog! I’ve had a lemon-inspired birthday party, used lemons in my household cleaning and even have an entire chapter devoted to the fruit in my book Chyka Home! So creating this very special, very summery collection for Harris Scarfe has been an absolute dream. Take my hand; we are going on a virtual walk through the streets that inspired the range…
This coastline is absolutely spectacular; every view is picture-postcard-perfect! But I am sure you are all wondering why on earth lemons are such a constant in the Amalfi. Well, time to learn! The unusually large and fragrant lemons that grow in the area between the Lattari mountains and the south-facing Amalfi coast have a thick pith that is not that bitter, have few seeds, and produce at least 25% of their volume in juice. Inside, the flesh is acidic, semi-sweet, and very juicy. Apparently, you can eat an Amalfi lemon the same way you would eat an apple or orange if you so wish. Along the Amalfi coast, it is commonly enjoyed cut into pieces, sprinkled with salt, a drizzle of olive oil, and a scattering of mint.

Starting at the dining table, bringing a Mediterranean feel into this collection was key for this season. Think lemons, seaside bliss and memories created with friends and family over a shared meal and perhaps a drink. Italians know how to embrace family and friends, good music and wine, and all of this together makes for a perfect night; now it’s our turn!
