IS YOUR Bathroom in need of aN update?

What bathroom isn’t! After what feels like years of being stuck inside our homes, our bathrooms are one room in the house that we often overlook when it comes to redecorating. Sure we all love a big new bath, a beautiful mirror and some flattering lighting but how are our towels looking? Are they plump? Do they feel fresh? Are they vibrant enough to withstand daily use for the next few years? If not, I have the perfect collection for you.

The Seaside Bath Collection comes in four subtle shades that will undoubtedly lift the mood of all your bathing spaces. With a bath mat, bath towel, bath sheet and hand towel to round out the collection you can choose from (or mix and match) a soft blush, silver, slate and stone. The Seaside collection contains a subtle wave design that is made from 100% cotton, these towels wash and wear really well and I seriously could not be happier with them and I know that they will make a lovely addition to your bathroom.

This is only the beginning of the Chyka Home bathroom collection for Harris Scarfe! It is so exciting that you will be able to find new colours and designs instore very soon. With shipping and delivery being a little on the slow side these days, please be patient with your online orders and always remember, stocks will vary between Harris Scarfe stores.

TOWEL CARE 101

  • Always wash and dry bath towels before you use them for the first time. Most new towels are coated with a finish that blocks absorbency and nobody needs that! This coating gives them that extra-fluffy look and feel when you are instore choosing your collection so washing new towels removes these finishes and permits maximum absorbency.

  • To prevent your towel colours from bleeding, wash coloured towels with similar shades in warm water for the first several washes. Use about half the recommended amount of detergent while washing towels and add 1/2 to 1 cup of white vinegar to the water during the rinse cycle. The vinegar helps set the colours and removes excess detergent residue.

  • Your towels should be washed every three to four days. White towels should be washed separately or with other white items to avoid subtle discolouration over time. Washing towels with clothes can transfer germs and bacteria between items in the wash, so keep them separate!

  • Only use a fabric softener to your towels every three or four washes. Waxy buildup from softeners can deteriorate the towel fibres over time and reduce their absorbency. No one wants a towel that's not fluffy, so be careful when using fabric softener with towels.

  • Replacing a fabric softener with Vinegar is a great trick to keep your towels soft. By using one cup of white vinegar about every six weeks; this will remove the soapy residue that makes towels feel rough, bringing back softness while restoring them to full absorbency. Simply run the towels through a regular washing cycle, then redo them using vinegar instead of soap.
